The history of John Walker Chocolatier, like all great legacies, had its beginnings with a dream. William Walker began wholesaling confectionary in Perth during the depression. Following in his footsteps, William John Walker continued the family business moving into manufacturing. Sons Robert and John joining the business, the Walker Candy Company continued the tradition. Through extensive overseas research the quest became to learn from the best to make the finest product possible.
Initially from wholesaling and then manufacturing came a venture into retail, first an ice cream store in Subiaco and then the John Walker Chocolatier stores, the first in Claremont.
The principle of the licensed stores is that of a defined 'chocolate boutique' based on the finest European traditions.
After years of continual refinement and innovation in their product lines, the Walker philosophy rings true, "to provide our customers with the best chocolate possible".
Do Australians really have a love affair with chocolate...? It may surprise you to know that we are the third largest consumers in the world, so the answer is a resounding...YES!
